Is the breakout from resistance likely and should you consider allocating exposure to this basket of 2000 small capitalization stocks? I think the breakout should occur, but I don't think we should increase exposure to the Russell 2000 for two reasons. Ideally the rotation was going to carry through into the upper-right green quadrant indicating confirmed outperformance relative to the S & P 500. I'm not saying we shun small caps all together and continue to focus on the large caps. We need to focus on fundamentally sound small cap companies and we can do so through the Pacer US Small Cap Cash Cows 100 ETF (CALF) .

There may be a lot of caution with investing in Chinese stocks — but asset manager Jason Hsu sees opportunities to play the market. "Chinese stocks are trading at the cheapest they've ever been. The Chinese economy and stock market have been dogged by declining foreign investments and a prolonged property market slump. Hsu suggests that investors allocate around 7% to 8% of their portfolio to Chinese stocks. 'A great growth story' When it comes to the Chinese market, Hsu views state-owned food and beverage company Kweichow Moutai as good short-term play.

After several years of big swings in the market and the U.S. economy, investors may want to buckle down and focus on individual stocks rather than make bold predictions about 2024. A resilient economy in 2023 proved widespread projections of an imminent recession wrong, and the economic consensus is murkier heading into the new year. That scenario of an economy exiting a recession seems far away as the calendar turns to 2024 with the U.S. labor market still growing. And quality stocks showed in 2023 that they can have solid performance even if growth is what leads the market. Shifting to high quality stocks can give investors a measure of defense in their portfolio without piling into cash.

The ETF flowdown: 2023 is back on pace to be a solid year

watch nowDespite a sluggish start to the year, a record number of product launches and a red-hot November have put 2023 back on pace to be a solid year for ETFs. Roughly $1 trillion has gone into money market funds this year, but some are questioning whether the solid year-end stock rally will attract some of those flows back into equities. "You saw that enormous cash pileup going into money markets, and ETF flows were muted. "We talked about the money market funds," he said. He pointed to strong inflows into high-yield ETFs such as the iShares iBoxx $ High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (HYG) and SPDR Bloomberg High Yield Bond ETF (JNK) and SPDR Bloomberg Short Term High Yield Bond ETF (SJNK) — along with dividend ETFs such as the Pacer U.S. Cash Cows 100 ETF (COWZ).

Nov 15 (Reuters) - Babar Azam stepped down as Pakistan's cricket captain on Wednesday, days after a group stage exit from the World Cup. Azam captained Pakistan in all three formats starting October 2019, and led them to number one in ICC One Day International (ODI) rankings for the first time in May. Pakistan slid from the spot after finishing fourth in Asia Cup and fifth in the World Cup. Batsman Shan Masood has been announced by the PCB as the new test captain while pacer Shaheen Afridi will be the T20 captain. Nov 8 (Reuters) - A forecast for rain has added an unknown element to New Zealand's final World Cup group stage match against Sri Lanka in Chennai on Thursday, captain Kane Williamson said. There's been a lot of weather around and it could look different tomorrow," said Williamson. "I think if we look at the cricket on a whole, there has been a lot of good cricket. New Zealand similarly struggled to make the semis in 2019 but were able to turn things around and reach the final. Williamson added that pacer Lockie Ferguson's return after missing two matches due to injury would depend on pitch conditions.

Small cap stocks have been left in the dust by this year's megacap tech rally, but at least one ETF of smaller companies is holding its own. Bank of America ETF strategist Jared Woodard said in a note to clients Tuesday that there is one small cap ETF in particular that "cuts out the junk" and is outperforming its benchmark. The Pacer US Small Cap Cash Cows 100 ETF (CALF) owns companies with high free cash flow, a key measure of quality," Woodard said. Pakistan stay alive in semi-final race, Bangladesh eliminated

KOLKATA, India, Oct 31 (Reuters) - Former champions Pakistan kept alive their slender chances of making the semi-finals of the 50-over World Cup with a comprehensive seven-wicket victory against Bangladesh, who were eliminated from the tournament on Tuesday. Babar Azam's men moved into fifth place after their third win in seven matches, while Bangladesh became the first team to drop out of contention. "We are trying to force things but it isn't working," Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan said after their sixth defeat in seven matches. Bradburn must have been pleased as the pace trio of Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Wasim and Haris Rauf collectively claimed eight of the 10 Bangladesh wickets in the match. "We are trying to win our remaining matches and see where we stand," Babar said of their semi-final hopes.

Relational aggression among teens isn’t anything new, but it can be especially hideous when it plays out alongside cyberbullying. Relational aggression among minors is complexCancel culture trickled down to teens, tweens and even younger children, and the combination of cyberbullying and social isolation in school can be swift. Protective factors are essentialTeens need sources of support and understanding when they’re dealing with relational aggression and cyberbullying, and this is where protective factors become important. • Research the reporting options at your teen’s school in case your teen decides to seek help on campus. What’s difficult about relational aggression is that it’s often subtle and under the radar of adults working in teen spaces.

A federal judge reinstated a gag order on former President Donald J. Trump on Sunday that had been temporarily placed on hold nine days earlier, reimposing restrictions on what Mr. Trump can say about witnesses and prosecutors in the case in which he stands accused of seeking to overturn the 2020 election. In making her decision, the judge, Tanya S. Chutkan, also denied a request by Mr. Trump’s lawyers to freeze the gag order for what could have been a considerably longer period, saying it can remain in effect as a federal appeals court in Washington reviews it. Judge Chutkan’s ruling about the order was posted publicly on PACER, the federal court database, late on Sunday, but her detailed order explaining her reasoning was not immediately available because of what appeared to be a glitch in the computer system. The dispute about the gag order, which was initially put in place on Oct. 16 after several rounds of court filings and a hard-fought hearing in Federal District Court in Washington, has for weeks pitted two significant legal arguments against each other.

Top order fire Afghanistan to famous win against Pakistan

It was Afghanistan's first ODI victory against Pakistan in eight attempts and the outcome leaves defending champions England at the bottom of the points table. "This win tastes nice," a beaming Shahidi said after their second victory in five matches. Teenage spinner Noor Ahmad (3-49) dismissed Abdullah Shafique (58) and Mohammad Rizwan (eight) in his successive overs in his memorable World Cup debut. Shaheen Afridi returned to break the burgeoning stand, dismissing Gurbaz, but Zadran and Rahmat Shah, who made 77 not out, continued the good work. Hasan Ali ended Zadran's gallant knock but Shah and Shahidi milked the Pakistan attack with consummate ease during their unbroken 96-run stand to seal a memorable victory over their neighbours.

On Friday, the S & P 500 closed below its 200-day moving average for the first time since March 17. If the total-return version of the index closes below that level for five straight days, then the $2 billion Pacer Trendpilot US Large Cap ETF (PTLC) will automatically sell some of its all-stock portfolio to shift to a 50-50 split between equities and Treasury bills. And if the 200-day moving average itself then starts to fall, the fund will go to 100% T-bills. Still, the fund's rule tied to the 200-day moving average is an example of how the move of a stock or index across a widely-followed indicator can cause volatility. Year to date, the fund is up just under 5% — well below the gain of more than 11% for the SPDR S & P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) .

The higher-for-longer rate path outlined by the Federal Reserve this past week could mean a delayed recovery for small caps and international stocks. Small cap and international stocks are sorely lagging this year. While the S & P 500 remains higher on the year by more than 12%, the S & P Small Cap 600 is down 1%. "Should we see a turnaround in small and international stocks, then these would likely benefit, but also hold up better if that recovery is delayed," Stovall said. He added, "In a sense you're holding the bluest of blue-chip stocks on a global basis, or the strongest of small cap stocks."

Pathirana comes up trumps for Sri Lanka at Asia Cup

Sept 1 (Reuters) - Mahendra Singh Dhoni is known to have a keen eye for talent and the match-winning display by Sri Lanka pacer Matheesha Pathirana against Bangladesh at the Asia Cup on Thursday shows the former India captain's reputation is well earned. His Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Dhoni predicted in May the 20-year-old would prove a "great asset" for Sri Lanka provided he was used sparingly and only in key white-ball tournaments. Vindicating his Chennai captain, Pathirana claimed a career-best 4-32 to rout Bangladesh and set up Sri Lanka's five-wicket victory with 11 overs to spare at Pallekele. "I think this performance has been coming for a while now," Sri Lanka coach Chris Silverwood told reporters. A popular ETF focused on cash flow is finding its footing again after lagging the broader market in the first half of 2023. The Pacer U.S. Cash Cows ETF (COWZ) has set several recent highs over the past two weeks, including closing at a record $51.49 per share on Wednesday. The index consists of Russell 1000 stocks with the best free cash flow yield. "The rebalance every 90 day is sort of the key because it keeps the focus on the most current free cash flow yield, and the names with the highest free cash flow yield. Portfolio strategist Lily Calcagnini said in a note to clients that the firm's models show the Russell 2000 small-cap index should outperform over the next 12 months. "The Russell 2000 should rise by 14% during the next 12 months, according to a simple model based on US economic growth and starting valuations that has explained roughly two-thirds of Russell 2000 returns between 1995 and 2015," the note said. The 60/40 portfolio doesn't work anymore, according to Bank of America. If the 60/40 portfolio was on life support last year, this year its demise is now "confirmed," Woodard wrote. Bonds require 40% of the assets in a 60/40 portfolio but have delivered only 25% of the returns since 1920, he noted. Weak bond returns will lead to "another lost decade" for the 60/40 portfolio, in Woodard's words.
